CSU makes changes to Around the Horn schedule
Around the Horn is reducing services effective Jan. 25, to adjust to the decreased ridership demand and to protect Transfort drivers and the public from COVID-19.
Oval closed Nov. 15-21 for ceremonial Commencement Walk for 2020 graduates
The Oval will be closed to traffic and parking during the day and night for setup, the event, and tear-down, and the Around the Horn campus shuttle will be rerouted during those days.
Around the Horn shuttle service resumes July 13
The Horn will operate normal summer level service, which leaves the CSU Transit Center approximately every 20 minutes.

The changes involve a major route detour, several closed stops and a couple of new stops coming to the southbound route on the east side of CSU’s main campus.

West side of Oval Drive closed Feb. 22-26
Update Friday, Feb. 19 Last week the trees on the east side of the Oval were trimmed; starting Feb. 22, trimmers will shift their attention to trees on the west side. Beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, the west half of Oval Drive will be closed, through 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26. Oval Drive will close from the Laurel Street entry to Amy VanDyken Way. Trees along the Oval near TILT, Weber and Statistics will be trimmed. The east side of Oval Drive will be accessible via East Drive, and Old Main Drive will be open to provide an exit onto Laurel Street. Music Drive will be closed. Around the Horn will detour the west side of the Oval by exiting at Laurel Street and re-entering campus at the Engineering lot north of the Lory Student Center when northbound. Southbound Horn routes will leave the Lory Student Center and go to Laurel Street, then Mason and back to University Avenue. Original post Feb 11 Portion of Oval Drive closed for tree trimming Oval Drive will be closed from Amy Van Dyken Way east to Old Main Monday, Feb. 15- Friday, Feb. 19. The closure is a safety measure while trees in the southeast section of the Oval are trimmed for routine care. A section of East Drive, from the driveway behind the Administration Building north to the Oval, also will be closed. The parking lots directly south of the Administration Building will remain open.

Celebrate Around the Horn on Nov. 13
The Around the Horn is a new, free shuttle bus route designed to help students, faculty, staff and visitors get across campus quickly, conveniently and safely. The route began in August and features 15 stops across campus, with a loop that begins at the Lake Street Garage, to and around the Oval, across the Lory Student Center, down to Moby Arena, and back.
On Nov. 13 CSU students will be hosting a campaign to advertise the utility and convenience of Around the Horn. There will be groups of students set up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the bus stop on Plum St. near Laurel Village and on Lake St. near the parking garage. These students will have snacks and T-shirts to give away to students, employees and visitors who download the Transfort App and take a ride on the bus.
The university will also be hosting an Instagram contest for anyone who rides the bus. The most creative picture posted with the hashtag #aroundthehorn will win a prize.
The goal of this event is to spark interest in the Around the Horn shuttle bus, while providing information and resources on transportation at CSU.
About Around the Horn
This shuttle bus system was funded in part by a vote of CSU students. The system was implemented by the city’s Transfort system with the help of the CSU student government and the university’s Division of Parking and Transportation Services. The bus route is a circle around campus (going both north and south). There are 14 total stops throughout campus. The entire route takes only 10 minutes. The purpose of this bus is to make campus commutes easier and to encourage people to utilize other forms of transportation other than driving.
First Lady visit impacts parking, traffic, transit
First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to speak in the Lory Student Center Grand Ballroom during a campaign rally for U.S. Sen. Mark Udall on Thursday, Oct. 23.
This is not a Colorado State University event. It is coordinated by Sen. Udall’s campaign office and CSU College Democrats, a student organization.
All classes will be in session and previously planned events, including guest speaker Laverne Cox in the Main Ballroom at 7 p.m., will continue on schedule. Students, faculty and staff traveling to campus should expect delays in traffic and transit during the arrival, visit and departure of the First Lady. Services and offices in the Lory Student Center will continue on a normal schedule.
Event details: Doors open at 1 p.m.; the campaign event is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. Event attendees are asked to enter the south doors of the Lory Student Center to access the line into the venue. Attendees should arrive early to accommodate for delays in traffic and security screening, but no overnight camping will be allowed. All attendees will go through airport-like security and should bring as few personal items as possible. No bags, sharp objects, umbrellas, liquids or signs will be allowed. Cameras are permitted but are subject to inspection. Once guests are screened through security, they cannot exit and return to the area.
Tickets: Tickets are required but not guaranteed for this free event. All tickets are distributed through the Udall campaign and are not available through the university. All questions about the event and tickets should be directed to the Udall campaign offices.
Event parking: Classes are in session and parking on campus is limited. Event attendees should park at the Moby Arena parking lot, accessible off Shields Street. The university’s shuttle system, Around the Horn, stops at Moby every 10 minutes and arrives at the Lory Student Center within minutes. For schedule information, visit www.ridetransfort.com. From the transit center in the LSC, event attendees will take a five-minute walk to the south doors of the Lory Student Center to access the line into the venue. The walk from Moby to the Lory Student Center is about 10 to15 minutes. Arrive early for the event; the transit center will be closed during the arrival of the First Lady.
Transit to the event: Because classes are in session and parking is limited, event attendees are encouraged to take transit to campus for the event. MAX, the city’s bus rapid transit system, runs along five miles of the north-south corridor with stops at University Avenue on campus and Laurel Street near campus. Traffic and transit impacts: The visit will impact traffic, parking and transit on campus during the afternoon. All transit to the Lory Student Center Transit Center and the center itself will be closed 2:45-4:15 p.m. and traffic on local streets may be halted for security for limited times before and after the event, creating some delays.
Media: Reporters will be required to RSVP through the Udall office before the event. Reporters should park in the Moby lot and use Around the Horn to reach the Lory Student Center. TV trucks may contact the university for parking information.
