Phil Long, associate vice provost for learning sciences at the University of Texas, will present two lectures as part of the Colorado State University ISTeC Distinguished Lecture Series on campus Aug. 31.
Long will discuss “Learning Sciences and Their Lack of Impact on Learning Technologies and Learning Practices,” 11 a.m.-noon in the Event Hall of the Morgan Library. The lecture will be preceded by a reception with refreshments at 10:30 a.m.
During the second lecture, Long will discuss “Building a Framework for Learning Analytics – the current developments in IMSGlobal Caliper and RAM Caliper instrumentation of learning environments,” 2-3 p.m. in Lory Student Center Room 308-310.
Long provides leadership to the University of Texas’ strategy for technology-enhanced learning through his research on emerging technologies and the information that can be obtained through interactions in the virtual environment. His current research also focuses on active- and blended-learning pedagogies and remote laboratories. Long’s work includes leadership roles in learning analytics and the digital integration of physical learning spaces.
ISTeC is a university-wide organization for promoting, facilitating and enhancing CSU’s research, education and outreach activities relating to the application of computer, communication and information systems.
