The School of Education’s Adult Education and Training specialization and Center for Educator Preparation at CSU are seeking session proposals for the “Teaching Practices: Honoring Diversity and Inclusion” track at CSU’s annual Diversity Symposium, which is taking place at the Lory Student Center Sept. 20-22.
Speaking opportunities are open to all students, faculty, alumni and community partners. Appropriate topics to consider include trending topics of diversity and inclusion in higher education, pre-K through 12th grade and workplace contexts; topics directly relating to diversity initiatives at Colorado State University; and current national and international dynamics.
Conference attendees will include college students, alumni, faculty and staff, as well as community members; speakers should designate a target audience in the application. Speakers should infuse creativity in presentation style, format and title to engage participants’ wide variety of learning styles. Sessions with high levels of audience participation are generally better received. When planning a session, speakers should include time for discussion. Priority consideration will be given to proposals that specifically address diversity and inclusion-focused pedagogical practices and evidence-based research.
Proposals, including a session abstract of no more than 150 words and presenter bio(s) of no more than 100 words, are due no later than July 1 – an extension specifically offered for the “Teaching Practices: Honoring Diversity and Inclusion” track. Interested parties must apply via the Diversity Symposium Call for Session Proposals form, selecting Sept. 22 as the presentation date.

About the Diversity Symposium
An annual event, CSU’s Diversity Symposium has grown from an invite-only, one-day event into a three-day conference open to anyone interested in exploring diversity and inclusion issues surrounding race, color, gender, disability, religion, national origin, economic standing and sexual orientation.

The Center for Educator Preparation (CEP) is a center within the School of Education focusing on the preparation of teachers and principals. The CEP offers 17 different K-12 teaching endorsement areas, including Early Childhood, and offers a Master’s Degree + Principal Licensure for experienced educators.
About the AET
The Master of Education – Adult Education and Training (AET) degree is housed in the School of Education. Faculty in AET are practitioners of adult education and are experts in the field of adult learning, teaching, instructional design, assessment, evaluation, and learning transfer. The program is designed to prepare practitioners for planning and instructional responsibilities appropriate for adult learners in postsecondary, community and corporate settings.
