Open enrollment for faculty and administrative professionals available Oct. 30 to Nov. 17

Open enrollment – the once-a-year opportunity to modify CSU benefits like an employee’s health insurance plan – has started as of Oct. 30 and closes on Nov. 17.

For those who do not make changes to their benefits, they will stay the same, other than a flexible spending account. Those enrolled in a flexible spending account are required to re-enroll each year.

Those who do want to make changes to their benefit plans can access them by logging into employee self-service at aar.is.colostate.edu. More information on open enrollment is available at https://col.st/Gtazw.

What’s new?

  • Medical plan premiums: For 2024, employees will see an increase in the amount of their medical insurance premium. This contribution increase is shared by both the employee and the university. Employee-only coverage on the Ram-HDHP and the Green plan remains at no cost to employees.  On average, the university pays 79% of the overall $73 million in expected medical claims for 2024.
  • Ram Plan-HDHP deductible: The IRS has announced the minimum deductible for high deductible health plans (HDHP) will increase in 2024 to adjust for inflation: $1,600 for self-only coverage ($100 increase from 2023) and $3,200 for family coverage ($200 increase from 2023).
  • Medical plan design: CSU medical plan deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums and copays have not changed since 2014. In 2024, there will be updates to these amounts to help keep pace with the continuing rise in the cost of health care, comparative data of CSU’s peer higher ed institutions and the high utilization of claims on CSU’s plans. Employees are encouraged to continue to take advantage of no-cost preventive care services and select preventive care prescriptions as part of the well-being commitment to employees enrolled in CSU’s plans.
  • To offset an increase in out-of-pocket costs, employees can use their Health Savings Account (HSA) if they’re in the Ram-Plan or a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for all other medical plans.
  • Health Savings Accounts:the annual amount employees can contribute to an HSA will increase to $4,150 for employee-only coverage and $8,300 for those who have dependents covered on the Ram Plan-HDHP.
  • Well-being Hub: CSU recognizes the importance of creating a healthy and safe work environment and is committed to supporting employees in both their home and work lives. The online well-being hub at colostate.edu can help navigate the complex maze of benefits and resources provided by CSU.

What’s staying the same?

  • Green & Ram Plan-HDHP: Employee-only coverage for these two medical plans is available at no cost to employees. Review the online medical comparison guide for a side-by-side comparison of all the available medical plans.
  • HSA: CSU will contribute $500 to employees’ Fidelity HSA account if they elect the Ram Plan-HDHP.
  • Anthem’s Sydney app:Employees enrolled in a CSU Anthem plan have access to the Sydney app, which gives employees fast and convenient access to their health insurance information right on their phone. Employees can even join a virtual visit right through the app – it’s like having a personal health assistant in the palm of your hand.
