Supporting CSU students, families and community members with ties to Hawaii

Editor’s note: The following message was sent by Associate Dean of Students John Henderson to CSU students and families in Hawaii following the devastating wildfires that swept through that state last week. The University of Hawaii has posted links to organizations that are accepting donations to aid the disaster recovery effort at https://col.st/u15x4.

Dear CSU Students in Hawaii,

Please know our thoughts are with CSU students and families on Maui, and know this can also impact students and families across all Hawaiian islands. We sent a specific message to CSU students on Maui but also wanted to send this message, more broadly, to all of you. The loss of life, impacts to communities, homes and infrastructure, and more – is tragic and overwhelming. If you are an incoming or returning undergraduate or graduate student, please know you can reach out to us if you have concerns/needs specific to starting classes here this fall or need some other type of support. Also, if you are somewhere on the mainland or somewhere else in the world (other than Maui), and you need support, please reach out to us.

Colorado State University has numerous resources to assist you in your pursuit of an education while dealing with the direct and/or indirect impacts of natural disasters such as fires.

You are an important part of the CSU Community and because Rams Take Care of Rams, we want to make sure you know we care about you.

Please let me know if we can do anything to help you.

Respectfully,

John Henderson
Associate Dean of Students
