Scenes from Commencement Spring 2019

Spring 2019 commencement ceremonies were in full swing May 17-19 as Colorado State University conferred degrees on more than 4,400 graduates at college ceremonies, commissioned officers for both Army and Air Force ROTC, and recognized both University Honors and CSU Online graduates, who came from near and far for a pre-Commencement brunch at Canvas Stadium.

On Friday, ceremonies were held for the Graduate School, the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering, the College of Health and Human Sciences, and presentation of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. In addition, the INTO Colorado State University program celebrated a record number of international students – 139 – receiving their bachelor’s, master’s and doctorates from all eight colleges on campus.

Celebration and documentation of the achievements of the newest CSU alumni began early with friends and families on the historic Oval. Photos by William A. Cotton, John Eisele, and Joe Mendoza of CSU Photography.

A full day of ceremonies saw graduates from Warner College of Natural Resources and the colleges of Natural Sciences, Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Business, and Agricultural Sciences complete their educational journey at CSU. The College of Agricultural Sciences program was particularly significant, as it marked the last Commencement address delivered by Dr. Tony Frank as president of the University.

The College of Liberal Arts launched its newest alumni in two separate ceremonies in Moby Arena, both addressed by Stephen Malloy Brackett of the award-winning hip-hop and rock group, The Flobots, and a proud CSU grad himself. He finally picked up the degree he earned in 2006, when the loss of his parents prevented him from attending his own Commencement.

Congratulations to all this year’s graduates, families and friends who celebrated this next step on life’s journey.
