“I tell people that I have made a ton of friends and done a lot of new things that I wasn’t able to do in my hometown. I also recommend CSU if they are interested in Animal Science.”

During the 2022-23 academic year, we are highlighting one Colorado State University student or alum from each of Colorado’s 64 counties. The Centennial State’s land grant university has a connection to the diverse lands and people from the counties of Moffat to Baca, Montezuma to Sedgwick and everywhere in between.

Major: Animal Sciences

Why did you choose CSU: I chose CSU to be close enough to my family to visit as well as the amazing Animal Sciences program.

Favorite thing about CSU: My favorite thing about CSU is the community and welcoming feeling. The flowers around the quad are a total bonus!

Favorite achievement: My favorite achievement was receiving acceptance letters from every college I applied to.

Career goals: My goals are to work with animals after graduation. I’d love to be a game warden or work on a ranch. I’d also love to join Peace Corps and serve for a few terms.

Quirky fact(s): I drive a manual (transmission).

Favorite instructor(s)/class: My favorite instructor was Dr. (Bob) Delmore. He taught my 8 a.m. Carcass and live animal evaluation class. He always made it easy to go to an 8 a.m. by being friendly and cracking jokes.

I’d like to thank: My advisors for guiding me through registrations and helping me achieve graduating a year early.

Favorite NOCO food and hangouts: My favorite place to hang out is Sundance and the best food is by far Jim’s Wings.

Favorite CSU tradition: Editors Note: Haley said something about a running event

What do you tell people from Park County about CSU: I tell people that I have made a ton of friends and done a lot of new things that I wasn’t able to do in my hometown. I also recommend CSU if they are interested in Animal Science.

What should people know about Park County: Park County is low in population but a very beautiful place to grow up and visit as well. Lots of scenery and wildlife to see.

Biggest adversity you’ve overcome at CSU: The biggest adversity I’ve faced is having little to no experience in my major. A lot of my fellow animal scientists have experience in this major and I do not.
