Network maintenance scheduled for July 13; connectivity issues possible

An important network maintenance activity scheduled for CSU’s main data center will occur on Saturday, July 13, outside normal business hours, and it may cause possible connectivity issues across the CSU System.

The maintenance involves a critical upgrade to replace the existing firewall hardware infrastructure to enhance security, performance and reliability.

Maintenance details:
• Date: Saturday, July 13, to Sunday July 14
• Time: 11 p.m. on July 13 to 6 a.m. on July 14

Impact on services

During the maintenance window, users may experience intermittent connectivity issues, including:
• Temporary loss of access to certain network resources and applications, including services such as the campus cloud, DNS, DHCP and NTP.
• This will also affect central systems including Banner, AriesWeb and RamWeb.
• Brief periods of reduced network performance.
• Slow network connectivity to the internet.
• Potential disruptions in communication services such as email and messaging.

Actions needed:
• Save your work frequently to prevent any data loss.
• Avoid scheduling critical tasks that require constant network access during the maintenance period.

Purpose of maintenance

The primary goal of this maintenance is to replace the existing firewall that protects CSU’s main data center. This upgrade is essential to:
