Nearly 200 undergraduates from across CSU’s eight colleges participated in the Multicultural Undergraduate Research Art and Leadership Symposium (MURALS) on March 29 at the Lory Student Center.

“Having approximately 190 students from all academic colleges express interest in undergraduate research via MURALS demonstrates a need for our campus to invest in research access for all students,” said Assistant Vice President for Inclusive Excellence Bridgette Johnson, who created MURALS almost a decade ago. “Historically, undergraduate research has been exclusive to a few, and for the last nine years, MURALS has opened the eyes of the institution that we can no longer do business as usual.”

She added, “Embarking upon our 10-year anniversary, I can truly say job well done, CSU. I now hope we can invest in MURALS financially so our students from diverse backgrounds can continue to flourish academically. I am forever proud … going from 15 students to almost 200.”
