Help Rams thrive on Giving Tuesday

When it comes to the Colorado State University experience, students have a lot of choices to make – when to study and when to catch up with friends, whether to go to the football or the volleyball game, and should I get a picture with two- or four-legged CAM. Sometimes, students even have to decide if they can have a full meal from the dining hall or have to subsist on convenience store fare.

That’s where you and Giving Tuesday come in.

On Nov. 28, Rams across campus, throughout the U.S. and around the world can come together and help support the Rams Against Hunger meal swipe program. You can stop by the Lory Student Center Plaza from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to enjoy snacks, hot drinks, and prizes while you learn more about Rams Against Hunger and how to donate to this vital program. You can also visit ramfunder.colostate.edu/GT23 to give online.

“It’s no secret that the cost of groceries has risen sharply over the past couple of years. It’s easy to see why an alarming number of them are facing higher levels of food insecurity than ever before, “Michael Buttram, Basic Needs Program Manager, said. “Rams Against Hunger’s meal swipe program offers a dignity-affirming solution to this issue. By receiving swipes from this program, our students gain access to high-quality foods that allow them to fully participate in their college experience, without worrying where the next meal will come from.”

One meal can make a difference, Buttram added, which is why giving any amount, even $10, on Giving Tuesday can mean the difference between surviving and thriving. Giving is as easy as can be, with Venmo, Apple Pay, PayPal and other digital wallets all acceptable forms of payment.

“By donating at any level, you’re not only contributing to the everyday success of an individual student, you’re breathing life into our Principles of Community and making CSU a stronger and more equitable place for us all,” Buttram concluded.
