Grants of up to $120K offered to CSU employees for projects on advanced industries in Colorado

CSU STRATA is accepting letters of intent for the fall 2023 grant cycle of the Advanced Industries Proof of Concept Grant Program.

Funds are provided to Colorado State University through the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade with the goal of accelerating commercialization of CSU innovations with high potential for creating economic impact in the state of Colorado.

Non-temporary, salaried, state classified or general CSU faculty employees are eligible to receive grants of up to $120,000, with a required 1:3 cash match. Projects eligible for funding span various industries crucial to Colorado’s growth, including aerospace; advanced manufacturing; bioscience; electronics; energy and natural resources; infrastructure engineering; and technology and information. In the previous grant round, six grantees were awarded funds totaling more than a half million dollars for the following projects:

• Intrinsically Crystalline and Infinitely Recyclable Polythioester Plastics

• Advanced Manufacturing of Grid-Stiffened Composite Structures
Primary investigator: Donald Radford, professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering

• CornCrete Masonry Units for Low-Carbon Construction
Primary investigator: Mahmoud Shakouri, assistant professor, Department of Construction Management

• Novel Upflow Leachbed Reactor Prototype for Anaerobic Digestion of Feedlot Manure
Primary investigator: Sybil Sharvelle, professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
