A workshop titled “The Symbolic Politics of Race in the 2016 Presidential Election” will be hosted by the College of Business Undergraduate Programs Office this fall.
The workshop takes place Oct. 13 in the Rockwell 119 Conference Room West on the CSU campus from 2 to 3 p.m. Associate Professor Courtenay Daum and Assistant Professor David McIvor, both of CSU’s Department of Political Science, will be facilitating the workshop around the symbolic politics of race that are present in the 2016 presidential election.
Perhaps there is no more sensitive or difficult issue facing citizens in this election season than the issue of race. How do racial privilege or disadvantage affect our current political system, and how have they affected the ongoing presidential election? What are the symbolic politics of race and identity in 2016?
The workshop’s goal is to enlighten students, faculty, staff and community members to be more conscious voters this upcoming November and critically assess themselves and the candidates in relation to identity and political platforms.
