In November, the CSU Drone Center staff was celebrated by CSU’s Employee Appreciation Board for kindly and proactively setting up a shared folder to track the expense receipts of an FAA grant they were awarded.

In appreciation, Kristina Burton, an accounting technician for Sponsored Programs, nominated the Drone Center team because she is finding it is getting more difficult to collect the necessary receipts to include with grant invoices.

“I wanted to give the Drone Center a shout out for all of the help that they have provided me, by setting up a folder for receipts and allowing me access to it,” Burton said. “They have an award with the FAA and even though it is not anywhere in the contract, the FAA wants receipts for travel and supplies, and ODC expenses. There are more and more sponsors demanding receipts with the invoice that we send out. Adam Smith, Chrissy Charny and their crew have made the receipt collection process so much easier for me, and they deserve to be recognized. We all work for the same team, and they understand that, which makes them true team players.”

The Drone Center is the full-service unmanned aerial vehicle drone hub for the University, providing consultation on aircraft systems, project guidance, piloting, pilot training, logistical support, sensor integration and equipment rental. They collaborate with industry and educational partners, both internal and external to the University, and manage the Christman Field airstrip and flight training area.

In appreciation of a job well done, the Drone Center staff received CSU swag and a Jimmy John’s lunch celebration.
