The Ag Business Center is part of the College of Agricultural Sciences dean’s office and provides shared administrative services support in the areas of financial services, research administration, human resources and grant facilitation to the college and the Agricultural Experiment Station, which includes nine research centers across the state. In fiscal year 2022-23, they helped navigate an 18% increase in expenditures, mostly related to an influx of grant funding and Spur campus activities.

The Ag Business Center was nominated by Jessi Fuentes, executive director of finance for the College of Agricultural Sciences.

“The ABC has gone above and beyond with their support of the College of Ag programs at the Spur campus,” she said. “The Spur program portfolio currently consists of 13 active College of Ag programs with more programs expected to be approved moving forward. The ABC has provided the overarching administrative support for all 13 programs.

“The uniqueness of the Spur programs, in conjunction with the CSU system office and utilizing the Spur campus, has made every administrative conversation complex in that best practices have yet to be established because it is new (and of course very exciting!),” Fuentes continued. “This endeavor has highlighted the ABC’s ability to strategize and problem solve in a flexible and nimble operating environment to meet the various needs of the Spur programs. It is a very real example of how it takes the entire administrative team and all the different perspectives from finance, HR, grants, and front-line processors to support all the programs. The team is still learning and pivoting operational approach every day, but the success thus far should be recognized and celebrated.”

The CSU Employee Appreciation Board is grateful for all that the Ag Business Center does, and ABC members were celebrated with breakfast and CSU swag.
