The Colorado State University Employee Appreciation Board is highlighting the Athletic Ticket Office staff for excelling at their job and helping make a difference within the CSU and greater Fort Collins community.

One of the highlights of the return of students to campus and fall are the sounds of crowds gathering on  campus for athletic events. Helping new students, as well as staff and community members, with securing tickets to some of the hottest events in Fort Collins is the CSU Athletic Ticket Office and Rams Sales Team. Composed of a total of six full-time staff members, this team, along with over 30 student workers, helps manage tickets and parking for the four ticketed sports at CSU: volleyball, football, women’s basketball and men’s basketball.

The ticket office was integral in helping host a campus and community-wide event when CSU hosted top-ranked Kentucky in the volleyball white-out match on Aug. 25 that drew a record crowd of 4,432 students and community members to Moby Arena.

Faculty/staff appreciation

They also managed all the complimentary ticket sales for the 2023 Football Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day on Sept. 2, when CSU hosted Washington State University. For that game, they distributed 3,172 complimentary tickets to faculty and staff and an additional 268 that were purchased at a discounted rate. This was in addition to assisting season and individual-game day ticket holders for a game that drew a crowd of 31,497.

The customer service challenges they encounter with each home event include making sure each customer comes away satisfied that they have the best seat in the house. For the Faculty/Staff Appreciation game, many of the complimentary ticket requests included helping customers match their free tickets with existing season and pre-purchased tickets. The ticket staff went above and beyond to help accommodate these requests, along with assisting customers with the mobile parking and ticketing process.

Timely responses

While this all certainly falls in the wheelhouse of their job descriptions, the team consistently responds to emails, phone calls and in-person customer service requests in a timely and efficient manner. They maintain a calm and patient attitude when helping customers, despite working under stressful conditions at times.

The results of their hard work, complemented by a larger staff within the Athletics Department to help make game-day at CSU a community-wide event, are exceptional. When you see all the fans dressed in white for the volleyball whiteout or in green for the football game, and all the activity on and around campus on game day, you feel the pride of CSU and the Fort Collins community.
