The Colorado State University Employee Appreciation Board is highlighting the Housing and Dining Services custodial team at the Walnut Building in Aggie Village.
The team of 14 staff members manages over 900 apartments at Aggie Village. Leonard Braden, Odina Yangibaeva, Rob Martin and the custodial team at the Walnut Building in Aggie Village were nominated by Student Case Management.
“This often-unseen team goes above and beyond taking care of us in the Walnut building, by tirelessly, without complaint, completing the everyday tasks of emptying trash and recycling, cleaning and sterilizing, and the other tasks that we often take for granted,” said Jennifer Van Norman, director of student case management and referral coordination. Whenever we do have the pleasure of seeing this team, we are greeted with smiles. If we ask for something extra (like touching up a wall or adding additional receptacles, or when the day after they cleaned the carpets, I spilled my lunch all over and had to ask them to do it again), they always respond positively with a smile and greeting. When the offices in this building wanted to compost, they volunteered to help,”
Van Norman also explained the extra lengths the team has gone to for over six years. They sort out aluminum cans from multiple locations. They then leave her a 20-gallon bag of aluminum cans about twice a month because she told them about a family member, whom they had never met, who recycles cans.
The team was celebrated with an appreciation pizza and CSU swag on July 20 by the CSU Employee Appreciation Board.
