The honors, presented by the PRSA at its annual Gold Pick Awards ceremony in Denver on May 10, included four Gold Picks and four Silver Picks.

CSU’s social media team brought home three of the Gold Picks, including one for “Thumbs Up for Colorado State University’s Facebook Page” in the category “Facebook Engagement.” In the category “Best Use of Social Stories,” Team Social took top honors for “Kevin’s Walk” and “Surprising Students and Professors with Puppies During Finals Week.”

The other Gold Pick went to videographer Ron Bend and the CSU video team for “Sights and sounds of opening day at the new CSU stadium,” in the category “Online Videos.” Bend also won a Silver Pick in that category for “From near and far, CSU celebrates total solar eclipse.”

Another stadium-related entry, “More than Football: Launching an On-Campus Stadium,” won a Silver Pick in the campaign category “Events and Observances More Than Seven Days.”

In the “Media Relations” category, Silver Picks went to Mary Guiden for “New test differentiates between Lyme disease, similar illness” and to Jeff Dodge for “Study: Dancing may offset some effects of aging in the brain.”

The latest round of PRSA awards for CSU comes on the heels of a Shorty Awards Audience Honor for “Kevin’s Walk,” the story about a CSU student’s journey to graduation that went viral during the 2017 commencement season.

Last spring, the Division of External Relations won six Telly Awards for the country’s best film and video, and six awards from PRSA Colorado, which also named Director of Social and Digital Media Kimberly Stern “Mentor of the Year.”
