Need a vehicle VIN verified?
If you’re registering a vehicle from another state in Colorado, or the county clerk office is requiring verification, it can be challenging to find a certified resource for VIN checks. Colorado State University Police Department is expanding its VIN verification services, and now offers verifications from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month by appointment.
VIN – or vehicle identification number – verification at CSUPD is $20 and take about 45 minutes to complete. Appointments are required; walk-ins are not accepted. Schedule an appointment by calling 970-491-6425.
VIN verification is required by state regulations in a variety of situations to ensure that a vehicle is not stolen or pieced together from stolen parts.
