Colorado State University doesn’t hibernate during the summer. From the opening of the new Terra building at the CSU Spur campus in Denver to the new Ram Walk near Canvas Stadium, as well as something fishy in the night sky, CSU Photography was busy this summer. Take a look back at a memorable summer at CSU.

Mount Everest base camp, May 29, 2022

If Joel Berger had known the roundtrip trek to Nepal’s Mount Everest base camp would involve 134 miles of hiking, he said he might not have agreed to attend the “World’s Highest Climate Summit.” But he did, leading a presentation on Nepal’s legacy on biodiversity, focusing on snow leopards and wild yaks. read more

CSU’s Spur campus, June 9, 2022

Many of the first visitors to the newly opened Terra building on the CSU Spur campus left with their own soil, garden plants and ready-to-bake bread dough – but most importantly, with newfound knowledge about the science behind the food they eat every day. “If this building and the programming inside of it doesn’t make a difference for ag literacy, I don’t know what will,” said CSU System Chancellor Tony Frank during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. read more

2022 Lagoon Summer Concert Series Kick Off

Thousands of community members packed CSU for the annual Lagoon Concert Series, which featured seven weeks of musical acts ranging from rock to country. The series kicked off in June with the band Funky Business.

 Christman Airfield, June 28, 2022

Something fishy happened at CSU’s Christman Airfield over the summer. CSU grad Mark Bellncula provided drone pilots coordinates for the machines, snapped photos, then moved them into different areas of the night sky, snapping more photos. Meshed together in time-lapse photography, the lights appear as a giant trout swimming in the night sky. read more

Colorado State University, July 28, 2022

Volunteers gave the Ram Walk a fresh coat of paint and a new design. The concept for the new Ram Walk look – the path the football team takes to Canvas Stadium through fans, spirit squads and the band – came about from a discussion between Albert Bimper, the interim chief of staff, and Michelle Stanley, the director of Arts Management at the LEAP Institute. read more

Kids Do It All

2022 School Is Cool

Nearly 200 volunteers took part in CSU’s signature outreach effort to provide backpacks filled with school supplies for Poudre School District students. Volunteers from CSU participated in the annual School is Cool program, ensuring students throughout the Poudre School District have the supplies to kick the school year off right. read more
