Counseling and support resources available following off-campus incident

Fort Collins Police are conducting a thorough investigation of a shooting that occurred last night off campus in the City Park area where many students, faculty, and staff reside. So far, we have received information that among the three deceased is a female student, and her next of kin have been notified. The other three involved parties are not believed to be affiliated with CSU.

Many members of our community were awoken by the sound of gunshots, and this morning learned of this horrific incident. Fort Collins police have issued an all-clear and there is no ongoing threat to the community. As CSU receives updates from Fort Collins police, we will pass them along via our Public Safety site, https://safety.colostate.edu, as well as through CSUPD on Facebook and Twitter. Fort Collins will post additional information as its public site.

We do know that members of our campus community may have witnessed the shooting or the aftermath and are shaken by this experience. A team of counselors will be available for walk-in support to anyone who needs it at the Lory Student Center Cherokee Park Room 2 p.m.-8 p.m. today.

In addition, students can reach CSU Health Network Counseling Services at (970) 491-6053; faculty and staff can get support through the Employee Assistance Program at (970) 491-1527 or ComPsych Guidance Resources at 1-800-497-9133.  If you are concerned about a student or employee, please Tell Someone at (970) 491-1350 or online.

We are deeply saddened by this terrible loss to our campus community and will share more information as we have it.
