Community Passover Seder at CSU scheduled for April 22

Passover at CSU
Passover Seder at CSU is set for April 22 in the Lory Student Center.

The Chabad of Northern Colorado and Colorado State University are hosting the annual Community Passover Seder at the Lory Student Center on Monday, April 22, at 7 p.m.

Now in its 20th year, the event, open to the CSU and Northern Colorado communities, features a five-course Passover dinner, complete with a variety of wines and grape juice. Matzah and Jewish holiday cuisine will be prepared at the koshered LSC kitchen.

The celebration also includes jokes, skits and songs. Registration and more information are available at jewishCSU.com/seder.

The annual celebration regularly attracts more than 200 attendees. Led in English, guests will enjoy an in-depth Hebrew/English Passover experience, with traditional songs, stories and mystical insights. No background or affiliation is necessary.

The event is hosted by the Chabad Jewish Student Organization and is co-sponsored by ASCSU, Hillel, RHA, LSC, SAEPi and AEPi.

“CSU’s Passover Seder is a wonderful experience to learn and observe the Jewish holiday,” said Shayna Ross, president of Chabad at CSU. “The Passover Seder is one way Jews remember our freedom from slavery in Egypt, and we would like to offer a way for everyone to observe or learn about the holiday, Passover. Our seder will be filled with information about traditions, customs, and the story of Passover through fun skits, songs and food.”

Affirming religious identity at CSU

CSU has a Religious Holiday & Observances policy for accommodating students without penalty when religious holidays and observances may conflict with scheduled academic events. The policy ensures that CSU maintains an environment inclusive and supportive of religious practice. Consideration of personal observance of religious holidays and expression is expected throughout the year and applies to faculty and staff as well as students.

CSU also has a Faith, Belief and Religious Observances Calendar, which depicts a wide diversity of holidays. The calendar serves as a resource to improve faith and belief-based literacy for our community about potential holidays celebrated by our students, faculty and staff.

Some students may not feel comfortable contacting faculty directly to request accommodations for faith or religious observances. The Vice President for Student Affairs Office has an online Religious Accommodation Request Form for students.
