College of Business’s CMC receives Outstanding Unit award

The CSU Employee Appreciation Board recognized the College of Business’s Career Management Center as an Outstanding Unit on Friday, April 14.

The CMC is made up of nine employees that provide superior services to COB students for planning careers, finding jobs now and after graduation, and identifying their passions. Placement rates for the College of Business are now over 90 percent, meaning that 90 days after graduation, over 90 percent of the students are placed in their field of interest.

Along with members of the CSUEAB, Associate Dean for Research and FacultyKen Manning, Senior Associate Dean Sanjay Ramchander and Griffin Moores of Marketing Communications helped celebrate the team’s recognition. The celebration included coffee, pastries, CSU giveaways and a reading of the nomination.

The nominator wrote: “I would describe the CMC community as very collaborative, very student-focused, and one where every employee enjoys each other. They are always willing to help each other, and anyone can see that they have a lot of fun working together. They really rejoice in the students’ successes, which creates a lasting memory for these alumni. A specific example of their outstanding work is the Professional Development Fund, created by the director, but now funded by many in and outside of the College of Business. This fund allows financially strapped students to apply for up to $250 to buy interview suits or up to $2,000 to travel for distant interviews.”

The CSU Employee Appreciation Board, originally formed in 1968, recognizes employees for their hard work and promotes community spirit among CSU faculty and staff through events such as breakfasts and luncheons. Each month, the Board hosts a prize drawing for all faculty and staff who submit an entry form, awarding a coveted reserved parking space for a full month.

The board meets monthly during the academic year to discuss and plan employee recognition events, as well as to help promote university events. One of the main objectives of the board is the monthly recognition of a group, entity or college.
