Be a part of National Roll Call on Nov. 10

The National Roll Call at CSU is set for Nov. 10 on the Lory Student Center Plaza.

Each year around Veteran’s Day, Colorado State University student veterans, ROTC cadets and members of the CSU and Northern Colorado communities honor the memories of service members who have given the ultimate sacrifice since Sept. 11, 2001, by reading the more than 7,000 names aloud.

The Student Veterans of America at CSU is seeking help in honoring the nation’s fallen heroes as part of the 2023 National Roll Call on Friday, Nov. 10. Participants read names for 15 minutes during the daylong ceremony, which is held on the Lory Student Center Plaza.

Students often stop between classes to listen to the names being read and all bystanders are invited to add a small American flag to the Field of Flags in memory of a life lost in the grass nearby.

The ceremony will begin at 7 a.m. with the posting of the colors. There will be a nationwide simultaneous “minute of silence” at noon. Names will be read by volunteers in 15-minute sessions throughout the day until all names have been read.
