SSW Phi Alpha honor societyOn Tuesday, April 25, the Colorado State University School of Social Work held an induction ceremony and breakfast reception for its 2017 Phi Alpha Honor Society – Theta Pi Chapter members. 50 students joined in 2017, the largest group of inductees in the CSU chapter’s 18-year history.

Social work master’s students Donovan Tate and Kayin President served as keynote speakers, providing insights into the transition from undergraduate to graduate study or employment. Pins, certificates, and honor cords were awarded by Assistant Professor Paula Yuma, Phi Alpha faculty advisor.

“It’s so rewarding to gather these outstanding students together and celebrate their academic achievements,” said Yuma. “We’re really proud of how they represent the School of Social Work.”

“We had the great pleasure today to honor such a successful group of students,” added Director Audrey Shillington. “So many have achieved this recognition while also working multiple jobs, being parents, spouses, and family care takers. Their commitment to social justice and the profession is moving.”
