Q&A with Travis LeRoy of That Eighties Band

You all have played in Fort Collins before at Washington’s; what do you like about playing in Northern Colorado?

The people. Every time we play Northern Colorado, the people are so friendly and enthusiastic.

Growing up in the ’80s, what is it about this music that resonates with people of different generations?

The music is nostalgic to a lot of people. Hearing these songs brings back great memories. For the younger people who come to our shows, many of them have cool parents who introduced them to these songs. I also think that part of the wide appeal is the fun energy of the music.

You and your bandmates have very distinct looks during your shows, do you model your look off of anyone from the ’80s?

Thank you. We try to “look” the part. Each band member does this in their own way. Sometimes people say I remind them of Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue, or Robert Smith from The Cure. Both were big influences of mine, so I take that as a compliment.

As a musician, is there a particular song in your setlist that you always enjoying playing for the fans?

Honestly, we like playing any song that the crowd enjoys. That is the reason we are there. If the audience is happy, we are happy.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

We are excited to be back in Fort Collins. We cannot wait to see everyone!
