At Colorado State University’s spring commencement, the impact of scholarships was embodied by each graduate who shifted their tassel, tossed their cap, hugged a friend and thanked a mentor. The impact of donor generosity was reflected in each smile and happy tear.
Throughout the 2023-24 academic year, more than 4,300 generous community members gave to Colorado State University scholarship funds, making it possible for 2,900 students to receive a cumulative $14.8 million in scholarship support.
At CSU, the graduation rate among scholarship recipients is 90%. By reducing students’ financial burdens, scholarships help increase their resources to pay for tuition, fees, books and even food.
“Scholarships have made my journey smoother, particularly as a disabled veteran transitioning to civilian life,” said Tyler Ryan, a CSU student studying fermentation science and technology. “As a parent and a full-time student, this support is not merely advantageous, but essential – it acts as a financial facilitator, confidence enhancer and opportunity gateway. Thank you so much.”
“I’m filled with joy and pride knowing that I have the chance to assist students in achieving their goals and transforming their lives,” said Heather Daniels, executive director of Admissions at CSU. “Scholarships go beyond providing financial relief; they also help cultivate an environment where students feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged – a place where they can confidently envision their futures.”
