The School of Global Environmental Sustainability (SoGES) at Colorado State University has announced the selection of 20 early-career academics as Sustainability Leadership Fellows for the next academic year. The fellows represent 18 departments and units across six colleges.
SoGES Director Diana Wall said that reading the applications for this program is a highlight each year.
“These young researchers are passionate about applying their expertise to enhance sustainability,” she said. “Their ideas and commitment are very inspiring, and the program has truly become one of the flagship efforts for our school.”
The Sustainability Leadership Fellows program is designed to give early-career experts, working to solve the grand challenges of sustainability, tools and techniques for greater impact. CSU’s doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers will play key roles in determining the world’s sustainable future. This program provides them with the leadership skills they need to put their work into action, reach broader audiences, and think more expansively about their work and its role in the world.
Over one year, fellows receive training to be the leaders for the future. This includes learning how to effectively communicate science to the media and public, and acquiring professional development skills and techniques and strategies to build successful careers that incorporate meaningful engagement and interdisciplinarity.
