Rams, Buffs take over Denver during Rocky Mountain Showdown Week

The Rocky Mountain Showdown is a football rivalry between Colorado State University and the University of Colorado-Boulder that began in 1893. The game was played nearly every year between 1899 and 1958, and became an annual Labor Day tradition in 1995.

Since 1998, the battle for state bragging rights has been played largely on neutral ground at Mile High Stadium, which is big enough to hold fans from both schools, and The Showdown will remain in Denver until 2020. However, the game was played at CSU’s Hughes Stadium in 1996, and at CU’s Folsom Field in 1997, 2004, 2005, and 2009.
