Pronoun feature now available in online CSU directory

The Division of IT’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee has announced the implementation of a new pronoun feature in the CSU online directory.

The new feature gives individuals an option to include their pronouns alongside their directory listing to promote inclusion across CSU. To add your pronouns, simply click the Directory Pronouns link, authenticate and then choose your pronouns.

“As custodians of CSU’s data infrastructure, we recognize the significance of technology in promoting inclusion and believe it is our responsibility to improve our personnel architecture by including identifying information like pronouns,” said Laura KinCannon, identity/access management developer and DEI Committee member.

She added that the committee acknowledges that not everyone is in a position of safety that enables them to publicly share their pronouns. While they invite everyone to share their pronouns, they also recognize the importance of respecting individuals’ privacy and autonomy in making this public declaration.

This feature addition was proposed by DEI Committee member Adam Warren and completed with the collaboration of KinCannon, CSU’s Pride Resource Center, and the Office for Inclusive Excellence.
