Colorado State University and Northern Colorado community members are celebrating Pride Month with a host of events that include a 5K memorial run that starts on the Oval as well as parades and gatherings throughout June.

Sam’s Rainbow Run is set for Saturday, June 15, at 9 a.m. The second edition of the 5K honors the late Sam Fisher, a CSU alum who tragically died in a plane crash in Boulder County in 2022. All registration fees and donations will honor Fisher by going toward a scholarship fund at the CSU Pride Resource Center.

Registration information and a complete list of events are available at prideresourcecenter.colostate.edu/pridemonth. Organizers are also looking for volunteers for many of the events listed in the Pride Month calendar.

During the month, the Pride Resource Center — which provides programs and services to support LGBTQIA+ students at CSU — is also hosting a LGBTQIA alumni happy hour on Friday, June 21, at Raíces Brewing Company at 2060 W. Colfax Ave. in Denver.

The happy hour comes in the lead up to Denver’s annual Pride Parade on Sunday, June 23. Alumni, students, employees and friends of CSU are welcome to sign up to join the CSU group from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The parade starts in Denver’s Cheesman Park at 1599 E. 8th Ave.

Closer to home, NOCO Pride is set for Saturday, June 29, at the Ranch Events Complex in Loveland. Hosted by Northern Colorado Equality, the event includes live entertainment, local vendors, a kids’ corner and more. The festivities are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Ranch is located at 5280 Arena Circle in Loveland.

Additional events include the Pride Month Proclamation by the City of Fort Collins on Tuesday, June 4, with local drag performers and live performances. The events start at 3:30-5 p.m. at City Hall, located at 300 Laporte Ave.

Pride Month, celebrated each June, recognizes the past, present and future fight for equity and liberation for the LGBTQIA+ community. It was created to commemorate the Stonewall Inn Uprising, which is often pointed to as the spark of the modern gay rights movement.
