New Faculty Success blog features equity resources

The Faculty Success program has launched a new blog for the spring that will highlight an array of insights, research and best practices around faculty equity.

Elevating Equity: The Faculty Success Blog” was launched this month and will feature around two posts per week this semester from a variety of authors. It will cover events, data from CSU and other universities, mentoring advice, programming and other resources.

“This is a one-stop shop for people who want to know what they can do in their own units around faculty success,” said Meara Faw, an associate professor in the Department of Communication Studies and a Provost Leadership Fellow on the Faculty Success team.

About the program

The Faculty Success program was launched in fall 2022 as an expansion of ADVANCE@CSU, which initially focused on enhancing retention and gender equity among faculty in STEM disciplines. It now extends beyond the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and math, and includes all equity efforts – not just around gender.

Faw authored the first post, introducing the blog. Agricultural Biology Professor Ruth Hufbauer – whose $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation designated CSU as an ADVANCE institution in 2021 – wrote the second post about the history, vision and accomplishments of the Faculty Success program. Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Sue James is writing the next post.

“We hope this blog spurs people to think in new ways about equity in academia and empowers them to take action,” James said.

Faculty Success serves as an umbrella program that works with related initiatives and groups at CSU, including the Council for Gender Equity on the Faculty, the ENCIRCLE Mentoring Network, the Faculty Council Committee on Non-Tenure-Track Faculty and the Office of Inclusive Excellence.
