Colorado State University basketball fans can buy one ticket and get into the Feb. 17 women’s and men’s doubleheader to watch both Rams teams battle conference rivals, with some added benefits.

The women’s basketball team faces off against the University of Wyoming in the Border War at 12:30 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., the men’s basketball team takes on Utah State. One ticket provides entrance to both games.

A rally hosted by the CSU Alumni Association will be from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. that day at Krazy Karl’s Pizza and Sport Bar, 1124 W. Elizabeth St. In Fort Collins. The rally is free to attend but registration is requested.

Anyone  with a ticket is invited to arrive in time to cheer on the women’s team. All season tickets and previously purchased women’s tickets will be honored. Fans with tickets to the women’s game who stay for the men’s game may sit in the upper Q section or FNBO loft.

Fight Like a Ram/State Pride

The men’s contest is also the fifth Fight Like a Ram game, which celebrates a partnership between CSU and UCHealth to honor cancer survivors and raise cancer awareness.

During the game, Rams players wear cancer survivors’ names rather than their own on their jerseys.

“It has been a significant event for our program,” CSU men’s basketball coach Niko Medved said. “Our guys take great pride in representing the cancer warriors on their jerseys; they know they are playing for something bigger than themselves or CSU. Fight Like a Ram is a great way to support and connect with our community.”

The women’s contest is a State Pride Game, during which CSU players wear uniforms inspired by Colorado’s state flag.

“The State Pride game means a lot to me, being from Colorado it is fun to come out and represent my state,” women’s basketball player Sydney Mech said. “It is even more fun to go out and represent with my teammates and share the pride of what it means to be a Coloradan!”

The game is indicative of a larger partnership between CSU and the Rockies. The CSU sport management program is celebrating its 10th anniversary. CSU’s partnership with the Rockies is in its third year.

CSU partners with Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies Sport Management Institute provides students with experience working alongside professionals in sports management. Several alumni of the program now work full-time for the club. Some of those employees and CSU graduates will attend the doubleheader.

Rockies Vice President of Corporate Partnerships Walker Monfort, a CSU graduate, said the event will be “an outstanding culmination of our one-of-a-kind partnership that offers students at Colorado State University a unique vantage point and opportunity within the world of professional sports.”

CSU and the Rockies are in an expanded partnership that offers students real-world experience. Several stay with the team after graduation.

“We’ve not only contributed our own resources to support the school’s initiatives and students, but we are recognizing tangible benefits of this partnership through the impact CSU students have made within our operations,” Monfort said. “We are excited to get everyone together on Feb. 17 to embrace the shared success of the CSU basketball teams this season. Go Rams!”

Each summer, CSU alumni and other community members enjoy “Rams at the Rockies,” an event bringing CSU fans together at a Rockies game at Coors Field in Denver. Watch for information about a CSU discount for that game. Rockies’ season and single game tickets are on sale.
