CSU celebrates International Education Week

International Education Week at CSU

It’s International Education Week and Colorado State University is gearing up to join the celebration.

What is International Education Week?

This annual event, observed from Nov. 13 – 17, is a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. Its primary goal is to embrace international learning opportunities and cultivate a broader global perspective across campuses. This week provides a unique platform for universities to bring together students, faculty and community members to promote and celebrate international experiences, education and the power of global connections.

CSU’s celebration of International Education Week

At CSU, International Education Week is more than just a date on the calendar.

While CSU takes IEW as an opportunity to showcase the international activities occurring habitually, this week also serves as an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to advancing global education and collaboration.

This year, CSU has a variety of exciting activities planned to engage and educate about the importance of international education.

Join for International Trivia Night

On Thursday, Nov 16, from 5 – 7 p.m., CSU students and staff are invited to Lory Student Center Room 386 for International Trivia Night. Test your knowledge about countries, cultures and global affairs, and have a chance to win some amazing prizes. It’s a fun and educational event that is sure to bring people together.

Catch International Programs on the Plaza

On Tuesday, Nov 14, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., members from International Programs will be out on the LSC Plaza with cookies, games, music and goodies. Stop by to learn about the university’s commitment to international education, ask questions and explore various opportunities for education abroad, intercultural experiences and more.

Call for proposals: 2024 International Symposium

International Education Week is the perfect occasion to submit your proposal to present at the upcoming 2024 International Symposium. The deadline for proposal submissions is Nov. 17. This year’s Symposium is aligned with CSU’s Thematic Year of Democracy and Civic Engagement. Students, faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals that relate to this theme in a global context. This can include a wide range of international topics, such as climate and environmental justice, technology, politics, health, education, culture and the arts. Visit the International Symposium website for proposal submission guidelines and save the date (April 2-3) for the 2024 Symposium.

The Future is: A Conversation with CSU’s International Education Leaders

In honor of International Education Week, we sat down with Aimee Jones, director of Education Abroad, and Greg Wymer, director of International Students and Scholars, to discuss the theme of this year’s International Education Week: “International Education Is the Future.”
