In memory: Roger Sherwood Marshall

Roger Sherwood Marshall marched through heaven’s gates April 2.

Roger was born March, 31, 1945, to Dorothy Marshall (deceased 1957). He was raised by Milford (Moose) and Margaret (Billie) Marshall and his grandparents, Ed and Laura Merkel (both deceased).

Roger enlisted in the U.S. Air Force the day after high school graduation and proudly served for 7 years. He was a Vietnam veteran.

On April 6, 1968, Roger married his soul mate and love of his life Janet Lee (Cooke) in Plevna, Mont. He was the proud father of Brandy Rose (deceased 2012). Roger is survived by mother in law Eleanor Cooke, sister-in-laws Yvonne (Danny) Thompson and Beryl Kay (Sam) Simpson, half-brother, Scott Marshall of Washington, DC., and Kathy Dyer of Saranac Lake, NY. Rog is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, one niece and several nephews and his special princess Freckles. Roger was preceded in death by various aunts, uncles, cousins and special friend John Bisbine.

Roger worked for Colorado State University for more than 20 years as surplus property manager. He was one of the few people known that truly loved his job and looked forward to going to work. But most of all, Roger loved his Lord Jesus Christ serving in his church as usher/greeter. He told everyone he could about Jesus and always asked them if they knew where they would go if they died that minute. He always had a big smile and ready to give a big bear hug. Oh how that smile and hugs will be missed.

A celebration of life will be held 2:45 p.m. Friday, April 9, at Treasured Song Gathering, 17280 N 63rd Ave., Glendale, AZ, 85303. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Roger’s name to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. To leave messages of condolence visit www.sunlandmemorial.com.
