In memory: Linda Kay Heasley

Linda Kay Heasley, age 76 of Fort Collins, passed away Friday, Aug. 6, at Medical Center of the Rockies.

She was the second of four children born to Robert and Mary Carolyn (Barnett) Woods. She attended school at Piqua High School and graduated with the class of 1962. Linda was active in the school’s marching band. Linda went on to attend college at Wilmington College in Ohio where she obtained a degree in teaching mathematics. She met John Heasley at a young adult church function and they were married March 2, 1968, at Piqua Baptist Church in Piqua, Ohio. To this union were born two children.

Linda worked as a school teacher in Fairborn, Ohio, and Alamogordo, New Mexico, before moving to Fort Collins in 1979. When the children were born she was a homemaker and mother to them for 18 years. In the early 90’s she began working at Colorado State University and retired some years later as a financial manager.

She also played in the hand bell choir at First United Methodist Church of Fort Collins for 25 years. Linda and John enjoyed camping in their free time. They started camping with tents and over the years purchased camping trailers and a fifth wheel. They were part of two chapters of the Family Camping and RV group.

Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Heasley; and her two children, Mike (Beverly) Heasley of Chino Hills, Calif., and Karen (Tony) Shadwick of St. Louis, Mo.; along with many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m.,on Monday, Aug. 16, at Vessey Funeral Service, 2649 E. Mulberry St., A1, Fort Collins.
