Green & Gold Days: Visit CSU to innovate, celebrate and explore

Green and Gold Days: Celebrate, Innovate and Explore at Colorado State University

New this year: Green & Gold Days is showcasing more than 30 Colorado State University events in April, and the community, students and staff are all invited.

Embracing three themes of innovation, celebration and exploration, the month of April boasts something for everyone on campus with family friendly events, keynote speakers, workshops, sports and entertainment.

“April is a busy month on CSU’s campus, and we hope that people look at Green & Gold Days as a way to find the events that are of interest to them,” said Kyle Henley, vice president of marketing and communication at CSU. “Whether you’re interested in sharing a college campus with your students, an alum who wants an excuse to come see campus bustling, or just want to take advantage of a university being in your backyard – we hope you check out Green & Gold Days.”

Engage in innovation

Engineering Days (left) and the Celebrate Undergraduate Research and Creativity showcase are just a few of the events scheduled for the month of April at CSU.

Visitors will have the opportunity to connect with innovators ranging from students to faculty and community members at events like Innovate CSU Day, the Celebrate Undergraduate Research and Creativity showcase and Engineering Days, or “E-Days” for short.

“E-Days is a long-honored tradition in the College of Engineering that celebrates the culmination of knowledge for graduating seniors,” said Minnie Piffarerio, an instructor for the senior design course in chemical and biological engineering. “Our students look beyond what has already been done to pioneer new and better innovations and solve present day challenges. We hope prospective engineering students will come to E-Days to gather an idea of the kind of work in each engineering discipline and walk away realizing that the possibilities are endless.”

Explore your way

Exploration at CSU takes many forms, including the annual ACT Human Rights Film Festival, an opportunity to learn and enhance sewing skills with a Make & Mend workshop, and the wide range of programming at the Democracy Summit in line with CSU’s Thematic Year of Democracy.

“Public universities have a vital role to play in sustaining democratic health, and the College of Liberal Arts is excited to share our research, programs and initiatives through the Democracy Summit,” Professor of Communications Studies Karrin Vasby Anderson said. “We want to show students and community members how a public university can be an engine for democratic vitality that fosters constructive civic engagement.”

The Summit’s opening keynote on April 8 features W. Kamau Bell, an Emmy and Peabody award-winning comedian, producer and author whose projects include the CNN series “United Shades of America” and the New York Times bestseller “Do The Work: An Antiracism Activity Book.”

Celebrate wins and enjoy the show

April’s celebrations highlight the things that make CSU and Northern Colorado a great place to work, play and live with I LOVE CSU Day, the annual Arbor Day tree-planting, CSUnity – the university’s national volunteer month day of service, and CSU Athletics’ Green & Gold Weekend followed by live music at CSU’s Moby Arena.

“Gathering the Ramily is one of the strengths of Athletics, and Green and Gold Weekend 2024 is set to be another great example of that,” Interim Athletics Director John Weber said. “Between the community impact of the Grit Run and free events for fans to attend in football, soccer and softball, it’s set to be a great weekend for Ram fans and families of all ages.”

Watch the campus come to life this spring, connect with your community and broaden your perspectives at CSU’s Green & Gold Days.
