Gov. John Hickenlooper and members of his Cabinet held a Town Hall and Governmental Expo at CSU on Oct. 21.

After being introduced by CSU President Tony Frank in the Lory Student Center’s Ballroom D, Hickenlooper discussed the quality of life and healthy economy of Fort Collins, adding that it is boosted by the presence of CSU and the talent the university generates. He also described the various constraints on the state’s budget, which include mandatory funding amounts for areas like K-12 education and Medicaid.

Other speakers included Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne, Department of Transportation Executive Director Shailen Bhatt and Diane Duffy, who was just named interim executive director of the Department of Higher Education.

Department of Regulatory Agencies Joe Neguse led a question-and-answer session afterwards, featuring topics like the preservation of public lands, alternative transportation, state budget projections for 2017-18 and funding for the widening of I-25.

Before and after the Town Hall, representatives from various state agencies answered questions at information booths in the LSC Ballroom Lobby.
