Book Fest events featuring CSU Alumni and Faculty

Infinite West
Feb. 3, 7-8 p.m.
Art Lab, 239 Linden St., Fort Collins

History is a haunting. And the West, in particular, is filled with the spirits of our ancestors, echoing with the voices of the dead. Not all of them are recognized, however. Not all of them get to speak. What are they trying to tell us? How do we honor them? How to we bring them peace? Tracing their way through the complex, intersecting paths of Indigenous dispossession, Chinese immigration, white supremacy and more, these authors write into the silences of American history—reckoning with the colonial legacy of the United States, exploring what it means to be an inheritor of violence and trying to create a space where all of us can live. Moderated by Arvin Ramgoolam.

Featuring Nina McConigley, English Department faculty.

Crossing the Field: Poetry and Photography
Feb. 4, 3-4:30 p.m.
Old Town Library, 201 Peterson St., Fort Collins

Using text and photos (provided), we’ll investigate ways the elements in each find themselves interacting on and with one another. From there, we’ll turn our attention to how we might work these observations and interactions into notes, poems and larger projects of exploration outside of the workshop space. Register for the workshop.

Event led by Brad Vogler (M.F.A, ‘11), CSU alumus.
