Supply Chain Club

Hannah Walcher, Supply Chain Management student, College of Business

Hannah Walcher, a CSU Supply Chain Management concentration student graduating in May 2017, has been involved with Supply Chain Club since her freshman year. Currently the president of the organization, she boasts about the club’s ability to get students connected with professionals in the industry and to provide professional development opportunities.

Students involved in the club are passionate about Supply Chain which fosters a driven and ambitious community. With this being the third year of the club, great growth is taking place. The Supply Chain Club has partnered with the College of Business’ Career Management Center for an event with Amazon along with many other events planned for the near future.

Club members have toured a number of organizations such as New Belgium to gain better insight on the supply chain process.  As the awareness and exposure of the club increases, so do the opportunities to connect with companies and provide members more resources, including professional certifications, internships, and professional development opportunities.

Entrepreneurship Club

The Entrepreneurship Club gathers for a meeting at the College of Business

The Entrepreneurship Club, a relatively new club within the Department of Management, is doing a bit of restructuring this year. Previously, the club met weekly, regularly utilizing industry guests to speak to various aspects of entrepreneurship.

This year, the goal is to have students to receive a more hands-on experience in support of their business development by implementing a workshop to help young entrepreneurs move forward and validate their business ideas.

The new program is called “4-Hour Start Up” which connects aspiring entrepreneurs with experienced mentors to learn the first stages of starting a company. This allows student entrepreneurs to get a taste for launching a startup before they commit to one of the more intensive entrepreneurial programs offered by the Institute for Entrepreneurship.

Human Resource students are keenly aware of SHRM, The Society of Human Resource Management. Elizabeth Morgan, president of the CSU chapter, has completely revamped the club.

Not only has membership grown, but the list of events coming this semester are immense – all providing fun and engaging ways to learn and improve professionally within human resources.

The organization offers a variety of workshops on subjects like LinkedIn, networking opportunities, and resume building, as well connecting guest speakers to students to help them develop professionally and differentiate themselves within the industry.

HR professionals from HP, Google, and New Belgium all recognize SHRM and know that students involved in the organization are motivated and well connected.

Elizabeth says, “We focus on the individual and their professional journey. It’s not about coming to every meeting but going to meetings that will be impactful and provide resources to the member.”
