Connect with CSU Young Professionals group at upcoming events

CSUYP

CSU Young Professionals has events scheduled throughout the year at area breweries and restaurants such as Prost Brewing Company, Avogadro’s Number and Gilded Goat Brewing Company, among others.

Did you know that Colorado State University has a young professionals group that offers support, resources and opportunities to cultivate connections across the university?

CSU Young Professionals has been around for more than five years and is working to ramp up its efforts with new events and monthly socials since the pandemic has ended.

Become a member and stay up to date on the latest events on the CSU Young Professionals Facebook Group or subscribe to the newsletter at col.st/RMigG.

The group — dedicated to young professionals and those young at heart — hosts monthly social gatherings as well as a larger quarterly event with speakers and professional development. They also have Microsoft Teams and Facebook groups to chat, connect and get information on the latest events.

Board member Emily LeBlanc, who works in the Warner College of Natural Resources, explained that CSU Young Professionals has helped her connect with other people across the university.

“CSU Young Professionals has connected me to other people at CSU, and it’s helped me understand the different departments better,” she said. “It really does help me get a feel for all of the things that are happening throughout campus by connecting to the different professionals.”

Fellow board member Kaesha DeCosta, who works in the College of Business, said the group has helped her meet other financial officers across the university to pick their brains about best practices and issues related to accounting.

“Unless you already have connections, there are not a lot of opportunities to sit down with others,” DeCosta said. “So, it’s nice to actually connect with folks who aren’t in the same department as myself.”

Board member Jennifer Sheahan in internal auditing added: “I enjoy getting opportunities to meet and connect with individuals across campus.”

Past monthly events have included visits to breweries and restaurants as well as a field trip to a pumpkin patch. Both LeBlanc and DeCosta added the events are a great way for new employees to meet people and get acquainted with the Northern Colorado community.

“I look forward to seeing people that I know and people that I’ve met through CSU Young Professionals,” LeBlanc said. “I also look forward to meeting new people. For me, the most exciting part is meeting people who just started at the university because that’s how I got started with CSU Young Professionals.”
