Campus was closed on Wednesday, March 13, due to a significant snowstorm dubbed a “bomb cyclone,” which is characterized by a sudden and significant drop in atmospheric pressure.

One of CSU’s own experts on the subject, State Climatologist and Associate Professor Russ Schumacher of the Department of Atmospheric Science, penned an article for The Conversation on what makes a storm a bomb cyclone. He was also interviewed and quoted by various media outlets, including The New York Times.

Campus reopened on a normal operating schedule Thursday, March 14.
