A well-loved State: Day of Giving yields $729,533

LYS Day of Giving 2018 wrapTake a bow, CSU community. Together you shattered records and, more importantly, changed lives on Love Your State Day of Giving.

The fourth annual event raised $729,533 – more than three times the previous record. All eight colleges, several campus units and numerous CSU causes got a boost during the 24-hour Ram love-fest.

“The Love Your State Day of Giving was another fantastic example of Rams passion in action!” said Kim Tobin, vice president for University Advancement. “From $1 to $25,000, every single gift matters in supporting our students and achieving our CSU mission. A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to every alumni, student, friend and donor who gave. It just goes to show that the Rams Family always steps up to a challenge and always looks after one another.”

Nationwide support

Gifts ranged in size from a high of $150,000 from three-time alumna Karen Morris-Fine for a new fund in the College of Health and Human Sciences for Nutrition Research Leadership Innovation to $2.09 donation from a CSU employee. Gifts came from 41 states.

This year’s event got a huge boost from supporters who offered challenge gifts; 22 of those challenge gifts were unlocked, providing tens of thousands of dollars in additional support. Twenty scholarships were supported, and donations secured 2,809 meals through Rams Against Hunger.

A celebration event at Intersect Brewing drew 250 supporters. Intersect created Love Your State Pale Ale for the event and donated $1 from each of the 215 glasses sold to the CAM Forever fund.
