On-campus football part of Spring Sports Festival on Saturday

CSU fans get a chance Saturday to experience on-campus football four months before the new on-campus stadium opens in August.

The annual Green and Gold Spring Game is set for 1 p.m. Saturday on Lagoon Field in the central part of the CSU campus. Lagoon Field – home to the women’s soccer team – is a short walk from the on-campus stadium, which officially opens Aug. 26 when the Rams open the season against Oregon State.

Rams excited for 2017 season

The game-type scrimmage wraps up four weeks of spring practice for the Rams, who are looking for big things in 2017 after finishing 7-6 last fall and qualifying for their fourth consecutive bowl game. The Rams return 15 starters, including most of their powerful offense that was all but unstoppable down the stretch last season.

Something for everyone

The spring game is part of a four-event Spring Sports Festival on Saturday, with CSU hosting the Jack Christiansen Invitational in track and field starting at 9 a.m., a spring scrimmage against CSU-Pueblo for the soccer team at 10:30 a.m., and a CSU-UNLV softball game at noon.

Fans who attend all four events and get specific stickers on their Spring Sports Festival Passport will be eligible for prize drawings. CSU jackets, gift cards, game tickets and other prizes will be up for grabs.

Ram Town – a group of CSU-themed inflatables – will be set up north of Lagoon Field as part of the family-friendly, fun-filled day.
