CAM 25’s debut, student giveaways on tap Saturday

CAM_Forever_300CSU’s newest live mascot – CAM 25 – will make his official debut Saturday when the Rams host Boise State in a 5 p.m. game at Hughes Stadium.

The unveiling is part of a busy day with lots of fan-friendly promotions designed to thank students, faculty, staff and other fans for their support of CSU and Ram athletics.

CAM 25, the half-brother of CAM 24, made his unofficial debut Sept. 19 during the Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver. Sadly, CAM 24 died earlier that day of natural causes, and CAM 25 was pressed into action.

CAM’s first home game

Saturday will be the Rams’ first home game for the latest CAM the Ram. To mark the occasion, fans will have the opportunity to use text messaging to support the CAM Forever Fund. Fans can text RAM to 51555 to make a donation to support CAM and the Ram Handlers.

“We’ve very excited to officially introduce CAM 25 and give our fans the chance to support the CAM Forever Fund,” said Kristi Bohlender, executive director of CSU’s Alumni Association. “This fund not only provides for CAM’s daily care, it supports our dedicated Ram Handlers – student volunteers from across campus who donate many hours of their time to support CAM.”

In addition to CAM’s debut, the CSU athletic department is sponsoring student giveaways – including a trip for two to Cancun. Students can sign up at the game, and winners will be announced during the fourth quarter. You must be present to win a prize.

A three-night all-inclusive trip to Cancun is the grand prize. First prize is textbooks for the spring 2016 semester; second prize is a new 42-inch TV; and third prize is $250 in Under Armour gift cards.

“Recognizing the magnitude of this game and the importance of having a great student turnout, we wanted to add an extra reason and incentive for students to attend,” said Nick Popplewell, assistant athletic director for marketing. “This is also a thank you for the outstanding student support we saw for the first two home games and the Rocky Mountain Showdown. Our students have been fantastic.”

Faculty, staff ticket deal

Finally, all faculty and staff can take advantage of half-price game tickets thanks to CSU’s Commitment to Campus. Tickets must be purchased by Friday to take advantage of this offer.
