Volunteers needed for MLK Day Celebration

Every year, hundreds of campus and community members come together for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. The 2016 Celebration will be held on Monday, Jan. 18 — a University holiday — and includes several components, such as a Community March from Old Town to Colorado State University, essay and poetry readings and activities at the Lory Student Center.

An event of this magnitude would not be possible without the continued support of volunteers throughout the CSU campus and Fort Collins community. The Planning Committee needs volunteers to assist with the 2016 Celebration.

There are various opportunities available for volunteers, including:

  • Greeting and directing March Leaders in Old Town (10:15-11 a.m.)
  • Assisting with street closures (10:15 a.m.-noon) — this is where the most volunteers are needed
  • Celebration greeters – Program handouts and seating at LSC (11:15 a.m.-noon)

If you are interested in volunteering for the 2016 MLK Jr. Celebration, sign up online.  You will receive more specifics closer to the event.

Feel free to share this information with other members of the community. We hope to see you on Jan. 18 — either as a volunteer or as an attendee!
