Video: Fort Collins music ecosystem supports young aspiring musicians

Each April the drums, guitars and creative raucousness of FoCoMX become the soundtrack of springtime in Fort Collins. The annual downtown-wide festival is another reminder of the thriving musical ecosystem in this city, where seasoned pros find unusual support, and even the youngest aspiring musicians are surrounded by mentors and opportunities to play in front of paying audiences.

It’s a musical community that salutes those about to rock, with support from organizations like Little Kids Rock, a wide range of live music venues where musicians can listen, learn and perform, and Colorado State University, which provides a next step for studying music, and the business of music, in college if that’s where this passion takes them.

This year’s FoCoMX takes place April 26 and 27, with 350+ acts playing across 39 venues. Check out the 2019 FoCoMX lineup, including a full lineup of younger musicians both nights at Pizza Press in The Exchange from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and an afternoon and evening of more youth performers on the stage at The Exchange from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.
