Three bands to play Stadium Sessions Oct. 4-5 for CSU Homecoming

Stadium Sessions — the series of free outdoor performances by top Colorado bands before every Colorado State University home football game — returns Oct. 4-5 with shows by Kind Dub, Kerry Pastine and the Crime Scene and Float Like a Buffalo.

Kind Dub will open for Kerry Pastine and the Crime Scene on CSU’s historic Oval on Oct. 4 as part of Festival on the Oval, which is scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. Then Float Like a Buffalo performs prior to the Rams’ home game against San Diego State on Oct. 5.

The third season of Stadium Sessions features a stellar lineup of performances at the Coors Light Ram Walk Tailgate, which opens four hours prior to kickoff on Meridian Avenue north of Canvas Stadium. Kickoff for the San Diego State game is at 8 p.m.

In addition to the live music before the game, which begins with a Little Kids Rock performance by Grace Kuch, the tailgate features lawn games, food trucks and beverages for purchase. TVs will be on display for live, nationwide game-day viewing.

Stadium Sessions performances will be re-aired the Wednesday after each home game on KRFC 88.9 FM Radio Fort Collins at 7 p.m. and streamed online worldwide at krfcfm.org.

Float Like a Buffalo

“We have an incredible partnership with Colorado State University as we collaborate to bring fantastic local music to perform at Stadium Sessions,” said Jen Parker, executive director of KRFC 88.9 FM Radio Fort Collins. “We’ve had a great run so far, and Homecoming this weekend is going to be so fun with Kind Dub – a duo of CSU alumni who have incredible national traction — performing Friday on the Oval, followed by Kerry Pastine and the Crime Scene from Denver, who are highly entertaining and highlight more incredible talent from our state.”

Parker noted that in honor of Homecoming, Float Like a Buffalo will perform under the name “Float Like A Ram” Saturday.

“They are a fantastic funk-rock sensation, and are sure to bring a wonderful game-day vibe to the Coors Light Ram Walk Tailgate stage,” she said. “Our overall CSU partnership is extremely important to us as we help promote education, the arts, lifestyle, events and all things positive and meaningful in our great community.”

The remaining Stadium Sessions lineup, presented in partnership with CSU, the Bohemian Foundation and KRFC 88.9 FM Radio Fort Collins, is:

  • Saturday, Nov. 2 – Instant Empire
  • Saturday, Nov. 16 – Jeff Finlin
  • Friday, Nov. 29 – Macy Todd
Kind Dub

About the bands

Established in late 2013, Kind Dub brings a distinctive voice to the Colorado underground music scene. They’ve played more than 20 festivals and are closing in on 200 live shows, including almost two dozen out-of-state venues, from New York to California. They self-produce a one-of-a-kind sound combined with thought-provoking lyrics, which keeps the crowd grooving. Kind Dub has shared stages with some of its favorite national touring artists, including People Under The Stairs, Hieroglyphics, Chali 2na, Living Legends and Zion-I.

Kind Dub has performed at many of Colorado’s iconic venues, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Mishawaka, Fillmore Auditorium, Aggie Theatre, Levitt Pavilion, Cervantes’ Masterpiece, The Fox Theatre, Animas City Theatre and The Black Sheep.

Kerry Pastine and the Crime Scene

Kerry Pastine is now infamous for her no-holds-barred, pedal-to-the-metal live shows, and that reputation has landed her on some of the best stages, shows and festivals throughout the U.S.

From playing sweaty, sold-out clubs as a headliner to earning the coveted support slot for bands like Brian Setzer, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Los Lobos and The Steve Miller Band, Pastine and her band are wowing audiences everywhere.

Kerry Pastine and the Crime Scene has elements of blues, swing, rockabilly, classic rock and soul, and has won over all genres and age groups. Their high-energy stage presence elevates the energy and gets the crowd rocking.

Float Like a Buffalo

Float Like a Buffalo

Float Like a Buffalo is a Denver-based, seven-piece, nine-instrument, high-energy funk rock band. They love to get their crowds dancing with songs inspired by their home in Colorado, being on the road and finding themselves.

The band has become a local funk sensation over the past four years, playing shows at major Colorado venues and taking the crown for Best Funk Band in Denver in Westword’s 2019 Music Awards.

Float Like a Buffalo released its freshman full-length album, “Back From Nowhere,” at a near-sold-out release party at the historic Gothic Theatre in early 2019. The band followed that with shows at Red Rocks, The Marquis Theater, Levitt Pavilion and Westword Music Showcase. Last summer, Float Like a Buffalo made its debut on the Red Rocks main stage as an opener for Face Vocal Band. They were also listed among the Top 30 Rock Bands in Denver by 303 Magazine.

Their song “The Day,” off of “Back From Nowhere,” was featured in 303 Magazine’s “New Music You Should Know – February 2019.”
