In The Beginning, photographer Kei Ito creates an immersive environment to consider the shared pasts and harms suffered as a result of nuclear weapons, transforming the gallery into a monument to the past and present.
The CIIPE co-founder and director emeritus will be honored with a special retrospective showcasing posters he designed over the past 50 years.
Celebrating the diverse genre of artists’ books, the exhibit will be on view in the museum’s Griffin Foundation Gallery from Aug. 26 to Dec. 18.
As part of the piece, the artist invited a CSU composer to create a unique, living map that weaves a sonic story about the region’s land, water and community.
The exhibit aims to shed light on the impacts the Russian invasion of Ukraine has had on Ukrainian artists and cultural groups.
Visitors will have after-hours access to the museum's permanent collection as well as three current exhibitions.
