Alan Rudolph, the executive who guided CSU’s multimillion dollar research enterprise to new heights and national recognition the past 10 years, announced that he will be leaving the university effective July 1.
Dr. Nicole Ehrhart, who was not involved in the Dog Aging Project study, called the new research “wonderful confirmation of something that we know across all species: that exercise is good for healthy aging and that lifelong habits of exercise can be preventive for Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive issues.”

A new study is underway to understand the response to three different medications in the treatment of canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome in aging dogs, with the long-term hope of advancing Alzheimer’s Disease treatments in humans.

Bob Ellis, Ph.D., received the 2020 Arnold G. Wedum Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Biological Safety Association. The award is given to a current association member for outstanding contributions to biological safety accomplished through teaching, research, service, or leadership.

Two researchers at Colorado State University launched a pilot study in mid-March to test employees at five skilled nursing facilities. The researchers, Dr. Nicole Ehrhart, who directs CSU’s healthy aging center, and Greg Ebel, a microbiology professor, suspected that asymptomatic staff members were bringing COVID-19 to work with them.
