Dear CSU Community,

The terror and violent conflict that has erupted in Israel and Gaza has brought grief, pain and heartbreak to our University community and communities around the world. Our thoughts are with all students, faculty and staff who are directly and indirectly impacted, and we are deeply invested in supporting the well-being of members of our campus community with ties to the region. Providing support to our students and colleagues who are impacted has been and will continue to be our first priority. As well, it is our responsibility to ensure that CSU provides an inclusive and safe forum for the discussion of complex and troubling issues that matter to us as individuals and as a society.

Over the last week, the Division of Student Affairs, Office for Inclusive Excellence, Office of International Programs and other units across the University have been providing outreach and support to students and associated CSU communities. We want to share the resources that are available through CSU and would also like to share the ways CSU responds when international conflicts, natural disasters or acts of mass violence occur and impact members of our campus community. These tragedies can be extremely personal and difficult for members of our campus, and our offices offer both direct and general assistance. This support can include assistance with challenges related to mental health, academics, finances and travel.

We encourage anyone who needs support to use these resources:

  • Student Case Management is available to assist with navigating university resources including assistance with class absences and support resources at (970) 491-8051.
  • CSU Health Network Mental Health and Well-Being Services are available at https://health.colostate.edu/mhwb-resources/.
  • International Programs has International Student and Scholar Advisors available to meet with impacted students during Open Advising Monday through Thursday from 10-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. or by appointment at Remote Advising – International Programs (colostate.edu). Students can also reach out through email via the ISSS Cares
  • Students can seek support through the Asian Pacific American Cultural Center at apacc.csu@gmail.com or (970) 491-6154.
  • The Dean of Students Office is available for one-on-one support at (970) 491-5312.
  • Faculty and staff can seek support through the Employee Assistance Program.
  • Members of the campus community can seek resources through CSU’s Multifaith and Belief Initiatives.

We are committed to supporting our community, and encourage you to take care of one another and participate in campus dialogues, vigils and community events that will be held in the coming weeks. Let’s exercise patience and kindness with one another, as many members of our community may be struggling in ways that are not always evident. We continue to hope for peace, an end to the violence and ongoing open discourse on our campus, across the nation and globally.

Sincerely,

Amy Parsons
